Samsung’s Mysterious Human-Like AI Assistant ‘NEON’ To Be Unveiled At CES 2020

Samsung Technology & Advanced Research Labs, more commonly known as STAR Labs, is all geared up to showcase an artificial intelligence product at CES 2020. STAR Labs is an independent entity of Samsung Electronics and is headed by President & CEO Pranav Mistry who is popularly known for his work on SixthSense.

At the time being, the company hasn’t revealed much about what Neon is. But their tagline of “Have you ever met an ‘ARTIFICIAL?”, that is sprayed over all social media channels, does suggest that it has to do something regarding artificial intelligence.

But another tweet from Shekhar Kapur, an Indian-British filmmaker and actor, does throw some more light on what Neon might actually be. According to him, Neon is an artificial intelligence that could be your “best friend”. And no, before you connect this to Bixby, let me tell you that Neon has clarified that it has got nothing to do with Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant.

Interestingly, Neon has teased its announcement in several languages. The languages featuring in their promos are English, Korean, Hindi, Spanish, and Mandarin. This could be suggestive of the fact that the product would support these languages, either at launch or over time. The promo images people of varying gender and ethnicity that suggests that the artificial intelligence product could also have support voice and tone customization.

Tweets from employees and the official brand handle have reiterated that Neon is unlike anything the world has ever seen before. While we know what it’ll be centred around, we’ll only have to wait for CES to see what all this hype is all about.
